NRA Basic Pistol Class
NRA basic pistol class available.
At this time we are offering an NRA basic pistol class. Demand has been high and we are trying to fulfill the demand for this class first. This class includes all the information and training required by the National Rifle Association for basic pistol certification. Many concealed carry classes we see that are offered by our competitors do not include the elements and time commitment required by the NRA for this certificate. The NRA demands an entire day of instruction in order to include all of the information in the basic course. The basic course includes safe gun handling basics, familiarization with firearm terms and parts, live fire at paper targets on a range, firearm storage and cleaning principals, and opportunities for further training and practice. We are meticulous in our commitment to fulfilling the basic pistol course requirements for NRA certification, so be ready to spend an entire day on this course. Courses which do not take an entire day to complete do not meet the NRA’s requirements that instructors providea full training on all parts of the NRA pistol handbook. Completion of this course is considered to be sufficient by the state of Colorado for issuance of a concealed carry permit. We do not believe that the basic course offers enough to our students to have the basics for a CCW permit, so we offer additional information and instruction. This additional instruction is designed to give you more insight as to the very different considerations when you carry a firearm for self-defense purposes, as opposed to just shooting at paper targets on a controlled range. Even these additional aspects of training are short of an ideal amount of training, so all our students are advised strongly to obtain additional training and engage in diligent practice. The additional information in our course includes insights into proper holsters, belts, how to carry additional ammunition, concealed carry clothing, and recommendations for choice of handgun and ammunition for home protection and concealed carry. We also offer thoughts and discussion as to criminal and civil liability, and, most important, ways to avoid a violent encounter in the first place. Finally we offer thoughts and recommendations on how to defuse a potentially violent encounter.
Individual Instruction
Individual instruction available.
We offer individual instruction to persons who have a desire for a very hands on and intense training experience in the use of handguns for self-defense. You will receive one on one instruction starting with the basics of safety, use of firearms in general, and ways to improve your accuracy and speed in engaging single and multiple targets. We will move on to shoot–no shoot– scenarios, and proper draw from and return to a holster in a safe and repeatable manner. We will go over both criminal and civil law regarding use of deadly force, and what to do if you have been involved in a use of deadly force. Be ready to do lots of shooting. The basic charge is $200 per hour.
